Sunday 22 June

Plant Fair
Perennials herbs and shrubs for sale at reasonable prices

"Sundae" Music
An evening of walk-in. walk-out music entertainment at this famous Criccieth landmark, which has been extended to the rear of the former "ice-cream parlour" and made into a cafe with a tremendous view across Cardigan Bay .

Monday 23 June

Festival Lunch
The Most Reverend Barry Morgan, Archbishop of Wales and former Vicar of this parish is this year's guest speaker at the traditional Festival Luncheon.
Menu: Salmon and Dill Fishcakes, Loin of Pork, Summer Fruits Pavlova, Coffee

Afternoon Cello Recital
Dazzling young cellist Oliver Coates with pianist Jakob Fichert, will include the following in the programme:

David Lloyd George Memorial Lecture

Phillip George
will introduce this year's guest speaker, Winston Roddick CB QC
Devolving Justice
will be the title of his lecture. A native of Caernarfon, educated at Sir Huw Owen Grammar School and in Malta, Winston Roddick graduated from University College, London. Master of Laws and a practising barrister, QC 1986, his influence as Counsel General, National Assembly for Wales, 1998 has been well-documented. Companion of the Order of the Bath (2003) for services to the National Assembly. Current leader of the Wales and Chester Circuit, fellow and vice-president of Aberystwyth University (formerly University of Wales, Aberystwyth). Lists "fishing the Glaslyn" as a hobby.

Bowled Away
Criccieth Bowling Club Open Event: free coaching and refreshment at Criccieth Bowling Club, which plays at this superb crown-green bowls green, an historic venue, considered one of the best in Wales.

Venue: Crown Bowling Green, Criccieth Park
Access: either via the footpath over the railway from Criccieth train station or from Tanygrisiau Terrace, via Henbont Road.

Nature Walk
A conducted tour through Hafan y Môr and across the Pen y Chain headland, with a talk by Paul Dunn. Hafan y Môr occupies the site of the former Butlin's Holliday Camp, situated approximately mid way between Criccieth and Pwllheli.

Sup Tea with the Suffolk Folk Orchestra
Now there's an offer not to be missed! The ten-piece group features violins, accordions, melodeons, concertinas, recorder, cello and bouzouki... No, we aren't telling you what that is, you will just have to come along to find out. Children very welcome.

Chris Smith and "The String of Pearls" Big Band
It has been a few years since Criccieth Festival has been enlivened by the unmistakable sound from that era, so it is with some excitement that we will host a Big Band during our 21st birthday year. Chris Smith is very well-known in music circles having been a member of John Dankworth's band in the 1960s. He has also played for such music legends as Judy Garland, Peggy Lee, Tony Bennett, Tone Jones, Shirley Bassey, Sammy Davis Jr, Lisa Minelli and Barbara Streisand. He also accompanied Frank Sinatra on many occasions. The evening will include music reminiscent of Glenn Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Count Basey, Ted Heath and even Frank Sinatra, whose work may also be heard on the night!

Saturday 28 June

Open Gardens
Not one, but two delightful village gardens are open for viewing this year. Both were Criccieth in Bloom prize-winners in 2007 and are adjacent to one another.  They are open by kind permission of owners Jan and Richard Simmonds and David and Pat Stephens.

Music Workshop with The Sussex Folk Orchestra
Come and make music with us! Everyone is welcome no matter what level, so dust off those musical instruments and join in with this jolly group of musicians.

Evening Concert
Côr Eifionydd with Welsh baritone, Jeremy Huw Williams
To round of the 21st Criccieth Festival, one of our own "local" mixed choirs, with a long history of performing throughout North Wales and further afield, will sing with soloist Jeremy Huw Williams. Jeremy, who studied at St John's Cambridge, made his debut with Welsh National Opera as Gugleimo in Cose fan tutte and is well know to audiences around the world as well as Criccieth.

Firework Finale
This year's wonderful programme will draw to a close with a superb Fireworks display with a build-up from local performers and the Sussex Folk Orchestra. Join in the "afterglow" following the end of the evening concert, whilst waiting for the fireworks to begin.
